Directional improvement of traits

Directional improvement of traits

The direct selection of favorable genotypes using tight linkage, intragenic or functional SNP markers is mainly used for the selection of qualitative traits controlled by one or a few genes or simple quantitative traits controlled by Major QTLs.

For a serious defect of excellent lines or varieties, the backcross directional improvement of the improvement goal can be achieved by integrating 1-2 major genes, reducing at least 3 backcross generations and greatly accelerating the pace of directional improvement.
