Training Session on Access and Benefit Sharing of Biological Genetic Resources: Dr. Jia Gaofeng gave a report
On April 15, 2021, when my country's "Biosafety Law" was officially implemented, the Global Environment Facility (GEF)-United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) access and the benefit sharing (ABS) of genetic resources Under the guidance of the National Project Office, the "Training Seminar on Capacity Building and Awareness Raising of Biological Genetic Resources Access and Benefit Sharing in Scientific Research Institutions" sponsored and undertaken by the School of Resources and Environment of China Agricultural University was successfully held in Changsha, Hunan.
This conference is the third stop of this series of training sessions. The conference invites Zhao Fuwei, chief technical advisor of Nanjing Institute of Environmental Science of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Yang Qingwen, a leading talent of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Wang Qinggang, associate professor of China Agricultural University, and HIgentec Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Biological Seed Industry Jia Gaofeng, Chief Data Officer (CDO) of the Supercomputing Center, Wang Luquan, a legal lecturer at Jiaxing University, Dr. Mu Tong from China University of Political Science and Law, and Yang Guang, an associate researcher from the Chinese Medicine Resource Center of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, served as training teachers. Nearly 40 people attended the meeting. China Agricultural University Associate Professor Wang Qinggang presided over the meeting.
The training content focuses on the basic knowledge and development trend of biological genetic resources, the status quo, problems and assumptions of the acquisition and benefit sharing of agricultural genetic resources, the formation and maintenance of biological diversity and human well-being, and the application of multi-omics technology in germplasm resources research. The application of ABS legislation and management measures in typical foreign countries (regions), the progress of domestic ABS policies and regulations and legislative pilots, the practice of ABS in the traditional Chinese medicine industry and its capacity building. Relevant concepts and experiences of benefit-sharing, and enhance the capacity-building and awareness-raising of trainers on access to biological genetic resources and benefit-sharing.
Dr. Jia Gaofeng, Chief Data Officer (CDO) of the Biological Seed Industry Supercomputing Center of HIgentec Biotechnology Co., Ltd., gave an overview of the research on germplasm resources during the training, the application of biomarkers to the identification of germplasm resources, pan-omics analysis technology and application, table The application of multi-omics technology in the research of germplasm resources is introduced in 6 parts, including the analysis technology and application of genotype, the in-depth mining of germplasm resources, and the case study of HIgentec Biological Big Data Center.
The identification of germplasm resources and the intelligence of breeding have become the main trend of current development. High-throughput technology and bioinformatics are widely used in the research of germplasm resources. In addition to some commonly used techniques in biological breeding and phenotypic trait identification, new advances such as pan-omics analysis, deep machine learning of phenotypic traits, and in-depth mining of germplasm resources have revealed the broad development prospects of biological breeding technology.
Dr. Zhao Fuwei's report theme is access to genetic resources and benefit-sharing, the status quo and development trend of relevant international law. Based on his work experience, Dr. Zhao has sorted out the concepts of genetic resources, traditional knowledge and benefit-sharing, etc. The relevant progress and implementation principles of ABS in different countries and different regions of my country.
Researcher Yang Qingwen made a wonderful report on the status quo, problems and assumptions of the acquisition and benefit sharing of agricultural genetic resources in my country.
Dr. Qinggang Wang gave an excellent report on the formation, maintenance and human well-being of biodiversity.
Dr. Wang Luquan introduced the legislation and management measures of typical extraterritorial countries (regions) based on the current status of international law on access to genetic resources and benefit-sharing.
Dr. Mou Tong introduced my country's ABS policies and regulations and the progress of pilot legislation from the current situation of my country's environmental law, the current policies and regulations of biological genetic resources and related practices.
Starting from the development status of TCM industry, Dr. Yang Guang introduced the practice of ABS in the field of TCM and its capacity building.
This training meeting ended successfully in the warm exchanges between experts and students. As the third baton of ABS publicity and promotion relay, the training meeting has gathered the strength of the industry to let more people approach ABS, understand ABS, and promote the development of ABS ability and awareness. It is believed that with the joint efforts of everyone, the protection of biological genetic resources and traditional knowledge will usher in a brighter future.
